Human Trafficking Forum in South Australia
On the 12th of September ACRATH SA organised a Human Trafficking Forum in collaboration with Flinders College of Business Government and Law and SA Red Cross. A copy of the forum programme can be accessed here. Speakers presented on numerous issues of human trafficking and modern slavery, including forced marriage, wage theft, labour exploitation, both in Australia and overseas, and the Modern Slavery Act. The forum
engaged with a wide variety of people including service providers, faith communities, SA police, people from health and education, St Vincent de Paul Society as well as people wanting to find out more information about the extent of human trafficking in South Australia in the context of the global picture. Leonie Holmes, a member of the Catholic Women’s’ League, produced a report on the event, which is available here.
