ACRATH Conversation in May
The topic for the ACRATH Conversation to be held on Wednesday 25th May is Human Trafficking: Stolen wages – how common is it? We will be in conversation with Sherry Balcombe, an Olkola / Djabaguy woman from Far North Queensland, from the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry who will take us through her detailed personal experience and stories of Aboriginal people who have worked without pay and their fight for compensation. Historical exploitation’s harms are ongoing and continue in the current day, for some it leads to a perpetual cycle of poverty and dependence.
You will come away with an understanding of the historical, and current long term effects of stolen wages and how this occurred.
