ACRATH participated in the 8th National Roundtable on Human Trafficking and Slavery held in Parliament House Canberra on Monday 28th November. Convened by the Minister for Justice Michael Keenan, Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop and  Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Peter Dutton, the meeting was attended by government agencies, civil society and industry bodies. The recommendations made by the Australian Government’s multi-stakeholder Supply Chains Working Group formed part of the agenda with the government announcing  some measures it intends to implement and others that continue to be investigated. Other issues on the agenda included labour exploitation, forced marriage and compensation for those who have been trafficked. Read more…
