ACRATH 2023 Calendar

2023-Calendar

ACRATH’s 2023 calendar will be available to order in late September. The calendar, which has become an important education tool for dozens of schools, parishes, workplaces and families, is produced by ACRATH QLD coordinator Sr Janine Bliss fmm, with support from ACRATH staff and volunteers.

The 2023 calendar features stories and information on forced marriage, ethical shopping, resources and important publications. It also highlights some of the wonderful ACRATH people and programs. You can find out about inspiring ACRATH women including ACRATH President, Clare Condon sgs, who was awarded an Honourary Doctorate by ACU this year in recognition of her lifetime work in social justice.

Find out more about the teaching model used by NSW/ACT ACRATH member Genny Ryan osu when she visits schools. Her aim is to raise student awareness that people often work in slave-like conditions to produce many of the items we buy, and in the process there is destruction of our shared environment.

It focusses on the challenging questions:

  • Is landfill the best ‘retirement village’ for my electronic waste?
  • Do the clothes I love to buy begin with slavery and end in landfill?

ACRATH’s executive officer Christine Carolan said the calendar is a great fundraising tool, but more significantly an awareness-raising tool.
