The 2015 ACRATH National Conference took place in Melbourne 25-26 February. The conference opened with a welcome to all to participants, an Acknowledgment of the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the conference was held and the presentation of the ACRATH President’s report by Sr Anne Tormey sm. To mark ACRATH’s tenth anniversary time, was taken to reflect on the work of ACRATH over the last ten years.

Angela & MariettaThe keynote speakers for the Conference were Sr Angela Reed rsm and Marietta Latonia. Angela shared on the insights she gained while undertaking her PH D – Exploiting Vulnerability: A Study of the lives of Filipino Women who have been trafficked into sex work. Marietta was Angela’s bi-lingual research assistant. The conference gave participants a chance to reflect on the global context of human trafficking and modern day slavery and its impact on the Australian Reality.
