Action for March

March 2020 post

Talitha Kum is a worldwide network working against human trafficking. It facilitates collaboration and the exchange of information between networks around the world, and strengthens existing activities and initiatives to counter human trafficking everywhere. The member networks of Talitha Kum are organised in many different ways according to their particular contexts and cultures. Talitha Kum is an expression found in the Gospel of Mark (5, 41). The words, translated from the Aramaic mean “young girl, I say to you, arise.” ACRATH is a member of the Talitha Kum Network. Talitha Kum

During March we celebrate International Women’s Day. To mark this day you might like to invite someone to speak in your parish, staffroom or to your community group about current factors that make children and women vulnerable to being trafficked. We know that 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children and that women and girls are disproportionately affected by human trafficking.
