Actions for September
The September page of the 2019 ACRATH calendar reminds us that forced labour happens in Australia. Forced labour is more that a bad job. It happens when a person is not free to stop working because of threats, coercion or deception. Migrant workers and international students are particularly vulnerable. Anti-Slavery Australia offers specialist legal assistance to people experiencing forced labour – antislavery@uts.edu.au.
During the month of September we are invited to raise awareness about forced labour, and other forms of human trafficking and slavery . Talk with 5 – 6 others about the possibility of setting up a Social Justice Group in your parish to keep before parishioners the call of the Scriptures and the Church’s social teaching to act justly.
