Attorney General’s Report on Anti People Trafficking Strategy
Australia’s Response to People Trafficking (July 2011-June 2012)
In November 2012 Attorney General, Nicola Roxon, reported to the Australian Parliament on Australia’s whole of government anti people trafficking strategy, covering the period 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012. She commented that “Australia is not immune from this insidious form of modern day slavery. It is wrong. It is a gross violation of human rights.” She highlighted the importance of Australia working with international partners and having strong laws to deter people trafficking while also working to support those affected by this crime.
