Life in Prison for Traffickers
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 received royal assent in the British Parliament on 26th March. It is estimated that there are 13,000 victims of forced labour, sexual exploitation and domestic servitude in Britain. This act of Parliament increases the maximum jail sentence for traffickers from 14 years to life imprisonment and allows the authorities to seize traffickers’ assets and force them to pay compensation to their victims.
