Celebrating International Womens Day
#PressforProgress
International Womens Day is a significant event on the ACRATH calendar. On this day we join with others in pressing for progress. In the 2017 report of the UN Secretary General on the progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, António Guterres indicated “gender inequality persists worldwide, depriving women and girls of their basic rights and opportunities.” ACRATH is aware that in Australia women are being exploited in situations of domestic and sexual servitude. The Australian Federal Police have reported there is an increase in the number of forced marriage cases being referred to them for investigation. ACRATH members are working to be a voice for exploited women to ensure they are able to not only know their human rights but also access them.
