Feast of St Josephine Bakhita
St Josephine Bakhita is the patron saint of slaves and those who have been trafficked. Her feast day, 8th February, is the World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking. Inspired by her ability to overcome the experience of being exploited we pray that she will inspire hope in those those who are exploited in our day.
Slavery happens in Australia so what can we do to eliminate it? As consumers, we can make ethical choices, we can raise awareness in our family and social circles, we can donate to anti-trafficking charities such as ACRATH and we can pray for those impacted by this heinous crime.
