Forced Marriage Awareness Raising

ACRATH member Stancea Vichie mss recently gave a presentation on Forced Marriage to the Anglican Mothers’ Union at their church in Ormond, Melbourne. Stancea outlined the problem of forced marriage here in Australia and beyond.  ACRATH is grateful for the fund raising the Anglican Mothers’ Union conducted to support our work in raising awareness about this issue so as to prevent forced marriages from happening. Stancea was also grateful for the delicious 3-course meal she enjoyed with the Mothers.

Forced marriage was added to the Australian Criminal Code in 2013 thus making it illegal to force a person into marriage or to knowingly participate in a forced marriage.
