Garment Worker’s Rights

What She makes

For many years NGOs have been advocating for a living wage for garment workers. In 2017 Oxfam launched the What She Makes campaign to progress this issue. Without a living wage women working in the garment industry are living in poverty. Recently, Oxfam Australia’s side session at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector continued advocating on this human rights issue. A video of the event may be viewed here.

Groundbreaking research from Oxfam showing the impact that low wages has on the lives of the people who make our clothes. can be found in the February 2019 publication – Made in Poverty: The True Price of Fashion.
