Goods Produced by Child Labour
Did you know your consumer habits may be fueling child labour? It is important that we are informed about this issue so that we can take positive steps to work against child labour. The United States Department of Labour’s Bureau of International Labour Affairs (ILAB) has conducted research to shine a light on labour abuses in key sectors across the world. Their findings are reported in 2020 List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor.
Eradicating child labor and forced labor is vitally important to uphold the dignity and rights of all workers and to level the playing
field on which our businesses and workers compete. To achieve this it is important that governments, businesses and civil society organisations collaborate. The reports notes the ability to trace supply chains is critically important for identifying, addressing, and preventing child labor and forced labor. However, depending on the complexity of the supply chain, tracing is often extremely challenging.
