Human Rights Day 2023

Campaign Highlights

While today marks the final day of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, it is also the 75th anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being – regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10 1948, and sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

As we commemorate this anniversary, we ask you to take a moment to reflect on its importance. We also invite you to explore our resource section, which sheds light on the challenges faced by women migrant workers vulnerable to exploitation. These valuable resources we have highlighted over the past 16 days include contributions from global speakers, interviews with individuals who have experienced these challenges firsthand, informative articles, and more. Please take the time to reflect on what you have learned and consider sharing this information. Together, let us empower and inspire others to take a stand against gender-based violence. Visit https://acrath.org.au/take-action/16-days/.
