March Awareness Raising

International Women’s Day is celebrate each year on 8th March. The 2021 theme is Choose to Challenge. A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let’s all choose to challenge by celebrating women’s achievement, raising awareness against bias and taking action for equality.

The March page of the ACRATH 2021 Calendar highlights the increased level of trafficking and online abuse of children during the Covid-19 pandemic. The trafficking and abuse of children is a global issue and it happens in Australia. In August 2020 in the space of eight days the Australian Federal Police reported four cases. In June 2020 the then UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, presented a position paper entitled The impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on trafficked and exploited persons.
