Bill Helps Trafficked Children & Makes Victim Protection Central
The British government’s plans to tackle modern slavery by cracking down on traffickers and improving the protection and support available to victims have been hailed as a rare opportunity to end an “appalling crime”. The modern slavery bill, which was announced in the Queen’s speech on 4th June 2014, aims to consolidate and strengthen existing laws, increase the maximum sentence for offenders to life imprisonment, and ensure that victims’ interests are properly served.
