October Action
During the month of October we observe the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Given that poverty makes millions of people vulnerable to being exploited and trafficked, organize a letter-writing campaign asking federal politicians to increase rather than cut Australia’s aid to impoverished nations. This month the ACRATH calendar invites us to speak out against forced labour. Migrants and people seeking refuge are especially at risk as they may be unaware of their work rights and have limited English. They are often too scared to seek help.
