Outreach to the Pacific

The Conference of Major Superiors of the Pacific Islands (CMSPI) took place from 28th August to 3rd September 2023. A full day of the Conference was dedicated to reflecting on the issue of human trafficking and possible responses. This day was led by Sr Abby Avelino MM, Talitha Kum International Coordinator, Sr Colleen JacksonRSC, ACRATH member and Talitha Kum’s Regional Co-ordinator of Oceania, and Fr Peter O’Neill SSC, ACRATH member.

In reflecting on the assembly Sr Colleen Jackson commented:

“The assembly was a fire with determination to act! Several robust recommendations concerning human trafficking were among the assembly conclusions. Notably, CMSPI has resolved to commence a process with Talitha Kum/UISG to form a network in the Pacific. This is an exciting development for the Pacific – and also for the wider region, including ACRATH and TKANZ.”
