Cardinal Nichols Addresses the UN

The Santa Marta Group is an alliance of international police chiefs and bishops from around the world working together with civil society in a process endorsed by Pope Francis, to eradicate human trafficking and modern day slavery. Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Leader of the Santa Marta Group, addressed the UN at a Conference sponsored by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations.

In his address Cardinal Nichols stated “Human trafficking and slavery radically strips a person of this fundamental dignity, reducing them to the status of a commodity. It is an evil crying out to heaven.” He stressed to delegates that the cornerstone of the fight to eradicate human trafficking is effective, international cooperation at many levels.
