Thank You Pacific Brands
Bangladesh Fire and Safety Accord Signed
In July 2013 ACRATH joined with other organisations in writing to request Pacific Brands sign up to the Bangladesh Fire and Building Safety Accord, given the company was sourcing products from Bangladesh. The Accord is an independent Agreement designed to make all garment factories in Bangladesh safe workplaces. It includes independent safety inspections at factories and public reporting of the results of these inspections. Where safety issues are identified, retailers commit to ensuring that repairs are carried out, that sufficient funds are made available to do so, and that workers at these factories continue to be paid a salary.
ACRATH is pleased to report that Pacific Brands have signed the Bangladesh Fire and Safety Accord. In a recent media release Pacific Brands CEO, John Pollaers announced “the company has signed up to The Accord following a thorough due diligence exercise to ensure membership would help to drive genuine improvement in overall industry standards in Bangladesh.” Pacific Brands includes well know brands such as Bonds, Berlei, Explorer, Sheridan, Jockey, King Gee, Volley and Hard Yakka. Thank you to all ACRATH supporters who supported this campaign.
