Trafficking in Person 2012
T.I.P. Report for 2012
Secretary Clinton Has unveiled the 2012 Trafficking in Persons Report. As required by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, the TIP Report assesses governments around the world on their efforts to combat modern slavery.
The report indicates that “Australia is primarily a destination country for women subjected to forced prostitution and to a lesser extent, women and men subjected to forced labor.” (page 73) While a number of recommendations were made as to how Australia might improve efforts to fight human trafficking the report recognised Australia as a “regional leader in combating trafficking in persons.” (page 75)
