UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons

Report on Visit to Australia
The UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, visited Australia in November 2011. She presented her report to the United Nations Human Rights Council in May 2012. She noted “the high level of government engagement and effective partnership developed with civil society organizations” in an effort to combat human trafficking. She made a number of recommendations concerning the legal and policy framework in Australia and the identification and support of victims.
